It 's a bit hidden in a city between the
The mountains and the sea. Do you often feel as a result
other end of the world if he or she is in one place
it. Some known examples are Bar Harbor, Maine
and Big Sur, California. I have to Bar Harbor and was
I am close to Northeast Harbor, and although these cities
a special feeling for them, with beautiful mountains on one side
sparks and other ocean.
When designing aEarly summer trip along the Oregon
Coast with a friend of mine, I read about a town called
Yachats. It seemed that might be one of those
Places "where the mountains meet the sea." The Journey
Books gave all the city high marks, so we decided that we
would stay there the night before the trip.
My friend and I flew into Portland on a day that has characterized
Record heat. The outside temperature reading measured in our car
99 degrees as we leftAirport. We headed west
Pacific, and looked at the degree of temperature drop by
Degree as we get closer to the lake. By the time we arrived
the coastal town of Tillamook, the temperature of 49
Degrees - a drop of 50 degrees in 70 miles!
We followed the coast road through some of the
spectacular country I have ever seen. stacks, the fog,
steep cliffs and remote villages near the sea gave a disquieting feeling
in the area. We drove through thebustling town of Newport,
the last town before Yachats. We follow the forest road
more for a while ', then came Yachats. I looked around and
saw a couple of souvenir shops, a seafood restaurant, pay a
Phone ... and that was it. "Is it true?" I asked my friend.
We decided to go a little 'further away, but were quick to
Forest again. He turned around and pondered what might
may be the charm of this place.
We are located motel that we haveStay for the night,
and began to understand why the guides raved about
this place. Just behind the motel was a scene that
including roles of fog on a choppy Pacific Ocean, rocks
and small stones around a small sandy beach and a
winding path that led in both directions along the coast.
From my room I could hear the waves against the
Rocks. The smell of the sea was everywhere. Suddenly I
could not wait to seeYachats rest.
When we, my friend down and I decided to check the
Ocean Way. He looked toward the center of the head of the country,
which was about a mile away. We walked some of the
Path in the fresh air and admiring the houses
along the cliffs. But it was late and we were hungry,
so we went to the motel and drove to the city.
It 'was a small seafood restaurant in the center of the country
City, had a great viewPacific. We heard
for dinner, and I had a very satisfying dish fish and chips (I
It should then fish and chips for dinner every
Night for the next four nights). I ate too much, as usual,
however, and we decided to walk away from our first dinner
Sun went down.
In reality there was little to yacht, but it certainly has had a
specific stimulus. We walked through the city and I noticed that
Instead there was a breakfast that would come in handyon
our way out. Soon we arrived at the port, and took a right
along a road that ran along the coast. The road was
a sandwich shop on one side and an angry, churning sea
other. We continued along the road and soon
found that it led back to the path of the motel. We
Returning to the car with the intentions of going to
City in the morning.
I do not know if I ever slept so well that I did that night
Yachats. The combination ofFly on the day before, then
Go a long way, obviously helped. But more than that,
continuous noise, and smell the sea, a
just 100 meters away, permeated my room. When I
woke up the next morning I was told it would be a refreshing
major understatement.
Our second day in Yachats was promising,
Weather-wise, while still foggy, there were blue stains
Heaven above, and was a bit 'warmer outside. We left the motel,
led to the road and took a left towards the city.
The road winds to the city, over the cliffs and
past, beach houses bizarre. After about half a mile, the
Path ended at the road that had been the night before. My
Friend and I drove into town, he saw for the first time
Yachats was surrounded by mountains. E 'was low tide,
to which the port city will be like a huge, sandy
Beach, so we went to him and wentWhat could
before the water. The view back towards the city was very
beautiful beach and the mountains seem to meet with the right
where the city was.
We checked Yachats motel and left, but along the way
be out of town, we saw what might have been the most
spectacular part of the area, a place called Cape Perpetua.
This was a place where the mountains meet the sea really.
Cliffs nearly 1,000 feet high fell to the rocky
Costa andmultiple paths through the area. We spent a
good time here before the next
Destination. While we saw some unforgettable places
while the rest of the trip, Yachats is still in my head
whenever I think of the Oregon coast.
